The 2018 Lake Chelan Century Challenge will be held on June 23, 2018.
The number of riders will be limited to 700 – register early.
For 2018 Loop 1 will be the Apple Acres Loop which has traditionally been Loop 2. The Apple Acres loop includes the McNeil Canyon hill climb. The Apple Acres loop is 40.1 miles long with a total elevation gain of 4058 vft.
For the faint of heart the climb up McNeil Canyon can be avoided by turning left and staying on Hwy. 97 at the junction of Hwy. 150 and Hwy. 97 . This reduces the loop mileage to 25 miles and an elevation gain of 1504 vft.
The direction of the Apple Acres loop this year will be counter clockwise. In prior years this loop has been ridden in a clockwise direction.
These modification will have a number of advantages for you as a rider. Conflict with the 10K run on the Manson Loop will be avoided and the McNeil Canyon climb will be cooler as it is much earlier in the day. We hope this will encourage more riders to do the signature McNeil Canyon hill climb.
Based on feedback from 2017 we will again be timing McNeil Canyon. Timing methodology will be improved, prizes will be awarded, and results will be published!
Information on the 2018 Century Challenge will be published every two weeks on the 1st and the 15th of each month leading up to the ride.
The website is being updated to show all the planned changes.
